This past week in AICE media studies AS, our class examined the requirements we must meet in order to pass the course and get college credit. I am going to be choosing to do a film opening instead of a magazine as that is the medium I am more interested in and have more experience analyzing. In addition to doing a film opening, I will also have to complete a preliminary assignment and maintain this blog detailing my experience in this course. In addition, we went over information concerning a core chunk of our coursework, which is the compilation of case studies on various companies who produce media. Here, we will have to analyze several different projects (films, TV shows, magazines, and more) and describe a variety of institutions, codes, conventions, and other trends. Next week we'll be starting our first case study, and I'll be looking forward to it.
