Going into AICE Media, so far I am comprehending most of the introductory information. So far we've gone into the basic idea of what media is and what it is made up of. Media are technologies that act as connective tissue between people, allowing them to communicate. We were also introduced to the codes and conventions that make up media. Codes are a filmmaker's way of communicating information of the story based on the audiences prior knowledge. Conventions are things that are seen and repeated often in films causing them to become conventional.
I understand that a large portion of the AICE Media AS course is the maintaining of a portfolio blog, which for me takes place in the form of this one. This prospect is a bit overwhelming with the need to constantly update any progress in the course here, but I think I'll be able to handle it. In addition, we are going to have to make the beginning of the movie, something that must utilize mise-en-scene and other tools of media.
